Taking part
Running and physical exercise involve risk.
By choosing to take part in a 445 Crew session or event, you understand that those risks may include falls, collisions, uneven or slippery surfaces, roads and traffic, cyclists, other runners, members of the public, weather conditions, physical exertion and other hazards that can reasonably arise when running outdoors.
You choose to participate knowing that these risks exist.
- 02
Your health
You are responsible for deciding whether you are fit and well enough to take part.
If you have an injury, medical condition or any concern about whether running or physical activity is suitable for you, please seek appropriate medical advice before joining a session.
Run within your own ability and stop if you feel unwell, injured or unable to continue safely.
- 03
During the run
Please look after yourself and the people around you.
Follow reasonable instructions from session leaders and pacers, stay aware of your surroundings and take particular care around roads, crossings, cyclists, pedestrians and other members of the public.
You do not have to keep up with anyone else.
Choose a pace and distance that is appropriate for you.
- 04
Public spaces
Many 445 Crew sessions take place on public roads, pavements, parks and paths.
These spaces remain open to other people and we cannot control every condition or hazard you may encounter.
Where relevant, you should follow the Highway Code and any local rules that apply to the space we are using.
- 05
If something happens
If you become injured or unwell during a session, please tell a member of the 445 Crew team as soon as possible.
Where reasonably necessary, a member of the team may provide basic assistance, seek help from others or contact the emergency services.
In a serious emergency, always call 999.
- 06
Under 18s
Anyone under 18 must attend with a parent, guardian or responsible adult unless a particular 445 Crew activity has specifically been organised to allow young people to participate without one.
The accompanying adult is responsible for deciding whether the young person is able to take part safely and for supervising them throughout the session.
Additional rules or consent requirements may apply to activities specifically designed for younger participants.
- 07
Your belongings
You are responsible for personal belongings you bring with you.
Where we provide or arrange a bag drop or storage area, we will take reasonable care, but items are left there at your own risk.
Please avoid bringing valuables wherever possible.
- 08
Photography & filming
Photography and filming may take place during 445 Crew sessions and events.
More information about how we use images and what to do if you do not want to appear in content is set out in our Photography & Media section.
- 09
Our responsibility
We organise our sessions with reasonable care, but we cannot remove every risk associated with running, physical activity or using public spaces.
To the extent permitted by law, 445 Crew is not responsible for injury, illness, loss or damage resulting from the ordinary risks of taking part or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
